• The ECB have produced clear recommendations relating to close fielding distances and fast bowling directives. HSM CC support these recommendations (available on request) and will ensure that all coaches adhere to them.
• The Club will ensure that an adequate first aid kit is available on the club site, and that it will be checked regularly. All our qualified coaches hold a first aid kit for away matches/training and have had basic first aid training.
• ECB guidelines relating to the use of helmets are supported by HSM CC. Helmets will be provided by the club to meet ECB requirements, though colts are free to purchase their own if they so wish.
• The ECB have produced their "Safe Hands" policy as a guidance on child protection issues in cricket which the club endorses. The club child welfare officers will ensure that all committee members and coaches are fully briefed and have copies of Harrow St Mary's own child welfare policy that works within the ECB's guidance. The policy is available on our website and on the notice board during the summer.
• The Club expects all colts to wear white cricket clothing from the waist up to all training sessions, and to wear full white cricket clothing and white trainers/cricket shoes to all matches. The Club will ensure that coaches are similarly attired to keep up standards of appearance.
• The Club will provide cricket equipment appropriate for colts aged up to Under 13's, and encourages players to possess their own equipment above that age group. The one item of cricket equipment that colts of all ages must possess is a box (abdominal guard) of their own with a means of holding that box in place i.e. jock strap, pouch briefs etc. This is essential for hygiene and safety reasons.
• The club is committed to ensuring that colts are able to enjoy developing their cricket skills and having fun in an environment which is safe, and encourages the support of club members and colts parents for all matches and club activities
